Amadeus on 23rd November 2018 partnered with the Nigerian Travel Week (NTW) in an attempt to drive and enhance the Nigerian tourism sector.
Under the theme, Enhancing Tourism Experiences Through Stakeholder Collaborations, the event was held with the aim to improve the travel culture within the country and encourage local tourism.
Major tourism stakeholders, including aviation professionals, travel consultants, tour operators, hoteliers, restaurateurs, curators and travel tech partners discussed trends and solutions for the growth of the tourism industry in Nigeria and Africa.
Olayinka Olaleye, Head of Delivery Services for Nigeria, Ghana and MEA Travel Channels, participated in what was considered one of the highlights of the travel week, The Travel Roundtable. He spoke passionately about technology trends in the travel industry in a presentation titled ‘Tomorrow’s Tech for Today’s Travel’.
NTW 2018 featured a tourism exhibition where the various tourism stakeholders showcased and offered amazing travel deals to trade and the public. Different states in Nigeria provided snippets of their tourism offerings including hotels, museums and attractions, restaurants and cuisine. Visitors were also able to book holidays on the spot or create a dream package for the future.
Managing Director of NTW, Efetobo Awhana, commented that looking at the statistics on tourism, Nigeria is far behind due to its over dependence on crude oil and it is time for us to start taking advantage of our tourism potentials.
