Tell us a bit about yourself,

I’m an entrepreneur, bestselling author and travel expert. I often provide professional commentary for both consumer and business travellers on various news outlets including: CNN, FoxNews, FoxBusiness, ABC, NBC, CBS, CCTV, the Today Show as well as other outlets.

What got you interested in blogging about the Travel sector?

I own a travel media company, Travalliancemedia, and have been in the space since 1991.  I founded my company in the months after the 9/11 attacks and launched my business in March of 2002.  My first job in travel media was selling advertising to top suppliers and destinations around the world.

How do you stay updated on Tech & Travel industry news?

TravelPulse.com, the largest travel news site in the world, and one of the businesses I started.

As a notable travel expert, you have been in the industry for a while now, what has been your biggest accomplishment and learnings?

Never stop being curious.  I have hiked, sailed, climbed, kayaked, Segued and rickshawed my way through more than 80 countries and feel like I’ve only skimmed the surface.

How do you think East Africa has advanced in the technology & travel sector over the years?

Awareness for travel to Africa, as a whole, has continued to grow.  As seasoned travellers look for new experiences, the key for the region is to keep up with infrastructure as well as new offerings to continue to entice travellers globally.

What are your essential gadgets when you’re on the go?

I always travel with my iPhone 6 Plus, MacBook Air and iPad Pro….I don’t leave home without them as well as my universal adapters.

What do you usually do in your free time? What are your hobbies and interests?

My favourite pastime is reading for leisure, as it takes my mind off the day to day and allows me to virtually escape the world.  My business is my hobby and the world is my toy box.  My days of playing basketball are long gone from when I was recruited to play in college, but I make time to exercise every morning to stay healthy and ready to take on a new day.
