At Amadeus Ghana, one of the most essential parts of our business is stakeholder engagements and partnerships. We were therefore honored to partner with British Airways to host Travel Agents on a trip to the beautiful Dika Lake Resort. This event was in appreciation of the wonderful working relations by patrons of Amadeus and British Airways in the past year. It also to promote the resort as a means of improving local businesses as part of our commitment to building local communities.

On 24th of October, 2015, about 50 Travel Agencies who are patrons of Amadeus and BA, were transported on a day’s trip to the Lake Resort located on the banks of the Volta River. The teams set off at 8am and soon the ice was broken with everyone interacting, networking and the men predictably arguing intermittently about football. Soon the hour-long journey ended and it was time to explore Dika in all its wonder.

The resort, nestled beneath the Akwamu mountains is of breathtaking beauty and ambience. The flowers, giant trees and wooden structures give a sense of serenity which is quite rare in Accra, and our guests were quick to relax and enjoy the view.

The group decided, after the exploration, to play some games. They were therefore segmented to compete in teams of men versus women which actually made it more fun and competitive.

After games came lunch which was only overshadowed by a subsequent trip on the Volta River. The boat trip actually turned out to be the highlight of the trip. With life jackets strapped securely, the Agents were taken across the River for a thirty minute journey around the Akwamufie village and under the historic Adomi Bridge. Finally, there were group pictures and the return journey to Accra. All the Agents were sure that this was one of the highlights of the year for them.

Amadeus helps its stakeholders not only to connect, interact and network but also to explore local tourist sites (which helps promote their own businesses as well). We believe this trip achieved that and also helped our Agents take a much needed break from the rigours of everyday life.

British Airways has been a key partner of Amadeus over the years and we were honored to be a part of this event. This is the beginning of a better working relationship in 2016 and beyond.
