How to use credit card payments in Amadeus

Amadeus has officially become the first GDS to accept credit card payments in Nigeria and Ghana. With an increasing number of travellers requesting to use credit cards in the region, this is great news for travel agents.

But, do you know how to use credit cards on the Amadeus platform? We’ve decided to give you some pointers:

Credit Cards Accepted in Amadeus

MASTERCARD/EUROCARD – CA; VISA – VI; AMERICAN EXPRESS – AX; DINERS CLUB – DC

CARTE BLANCHE – CB; UATP/AIRPLUS – TP ; LUFTHANSA GK CARD – GK ; CARTE AURORE – AU

ACCESS – XS; TORCH CLUB – TC; CHOICE – CX; COFINOGA – CG; DISCOVER – DS JAPAN CREDIT BUREAU (JCB) – JC

The above list contains the credit cards that are recognised by Amadeus. However, it is important to note that not all airlines accept all credit cards as form of payment.

Additionally, although an airline may accept a specific credit card as a form of payment, it may not allow the automated approval processing in Amadeus. If this is the case, travel agents need to obtain manual approval and add it to the FP Element.

Requesting for manual approval of credit card

1. CREATE TST OR TSM WITH CREDIT CARD INFORMATION ON IT AS FORM OF PAYMENT

2. ENTER DEFP OR DEFM FOR TICKET OR EMD RESPECTIVELY

3. IF FOR TICKET AND EMD SIMULTANEOUSLY, ENTER DEFP/M
